(25,843 posts)the fact that laws mean nothing to Trump. He ignores laws. He has ignored court orders in the past, e.g. gag orders, with no meaningful consequences.
There is way too much at stake for Trump if we elect a Dem Congress -- loss of control, which is intolerable for a malignant narcissist, criminal charges, public disclosure of his pedophile behavior. When feeling desperate enough and cornered, he is capable of anything.
And Trump is only the public face of the fascist movement in the US. There are people backing and handling him who will let him go down only if they want to replace him.
I am not saying that we won't win the battles ahead. I am only saying that it will be much harder and more chaotic than you say. It is worth the fight. I do not want to discourage anyone. If we stand together, we can win.
I remember similar warnings that I gave in DU posts in 2020 and the responses from posters who were certain that Trump was all bluster and no action. They were equally certain that there would be no violence when I warned about that possibility because they said that Trump supporters were all couch potatoes.
You and I are not going to agree on this now, so let's just agree to disagree. You can save this post and bring it up to me after November to remind me of it if I am wrong. I will acknowledge it then. If I am right, I don't care about pointing it out to you or anyone. If I am right, we will have a lot more than posts to concern us.
