Between VZ, Greenland, Panama Canal and the ME, there are signs that say that change is afoot with energy, influence and interests for the 2000's. And that's just "US news".

I think there are strategic objectives beyond simply Trump wanting Empire. He's the useful idiot for a change, and if he goes to prison, everyone will scurry away. Change in global dynamics is coming and I don't think it will take as long as it would have last century for something similar. Even the players won't know where the chips will fall until we're past it and into something else.

In short... Presuming that returning Hormuz, and all it touches globally, to their prior states was ever an objective is a poor starting point for viewing current events, IMHO.
