To this day, I strongly suspect that more deadly conflicts arise from religious differences than from any other cause. And memories are long; Christians may never be forgiven for the Crusades.
More recently, and with more economic motives, America and Britain may never be forgiven for overthrowing the democratically elected Mohammed Mossedegh of Iran in 1953 because he refused Britain's diseased notion that it was entitled to take ALL of Iran's oil resources for itself, and then installing the "Shah", Pahlavi, despite his questionable lineage and claim to the throne. The Shah's brutal secret police, SAVAK, made the rightly despised ICE thugs look like a bunch of Campfire Girls telling ghost stories.
