Hell and I've been coughing my kneecaps off at the same time as the pissed off wild pygmies are bound and determined to beat my head in. Other than that, I'm just Peachy Keen!
I am NOT surprised at all at your comment about your musician brother. You mentioned that your brother trained to be a Concert Pianist. I did too BUT my hands stopped growing and I had trouble reaching keys that are farther apart than an octave, i.e. 9 or 10 keys. I CAN reach them but because my hands aren't big enough to comfortably & easily reach them, when I'm playing a piece that requires it, my attempt ends up sounding like "Staccato", if that makes sense. I have met MANY naturally musical people, (visual artists too) and with the exception of perhaps 10 out of the 50 folks I've spoken to, we all have a "strange" ability to "see" flavors, numbers, etc. In 2024, I was put in hospital by my neurologist due to the wonderful gift late onset Tonic-Clonic Epilepsy requiring my having a brain study, (complete with a head full of electrodes ALL OVER my head.)
I was taken off my Keppra & Neurontin to bring on a seizure, (lots'o fun) while being watched 25/8 by a team monitoring my brain to find out what area of my brain is the region where the seizures originate. Imagine my surprise when he came to me to announce that I have a brain that he'd never seen before.
First of all, turns out that I have temporal Epilepsy but as he explained, my seizures come from BOTH lobes & he was absolutely giddy to tell me that my brain ONLY produced Theta & Delta waves in the 5 days and nights I was being monitored. He asked me if I knew what that meant? I told him I did but before I got a chance to answer, he excitedly told me that based on the study, even though I'm walking around interacting with my family, friends & my surroundings, my brain is NOT awake & he went on to tell me that he believed, based on the studies, (including an a couple of MRI's with contrast), that I was born asleep. It was his opinion that I've never been awake. Anyone who saw Dr would have thought that he had won the lottery. He then began making noises about doing surgery, (Uh, No thank you, NO MA'AM!). So, I am an epileptic synesthete who sees the world VERY differently than anyone else. LOL! My family ALWAYS called me strange. So, I guess they were right.
