In reply to the discussion: 'A very dangerous person': alarm as Pete Hegseth revels in carnage of Iran war [View all]jfz9580m
(16,895 posts)The MRFF (the military religious freedom foundation) and military.com are good sources of military news.
I am not American, but I am from a military family and so I have some affection for the military proper (as opposed to defense contracting, which I consider a mercenary scourge more than not..no personal stake, but monetizing war).
My dad is a retired military vet (Indian Navy). He is very patriotic and a man of mild but deep personal faith. He definitely considers himself a Hindu, and he likes some people who are in the BJP.
But he is never insane or dogmatic. You lose him anytime you do things that are not truly in the militarys/the nations/his interests.
He is a classic conservative I suppose, but he is never a fool.
Dad is shrewd enough to be wary anytime this sort of religious muscle flexes itself. He also doesnt care for solipsistic narcissism with scant regard for the actual men and women whose lives are being put on the line.
He has fought in a war so he doesnt see war as a game. Lack of discipline and dress-up kayfabe would not impress dad.
This is madness:

MRFF has received over 200 calls from more than 50 military installations across all the services since Saturday reporting similar disturbing pronouncements from their Christian zealot commanders.
