You'll note, I hope, that I didn't applaud him for saying it. Quite the opposite, in fact. He deserves to be mocked relentlessly as the trog he is. I agree with you that what he said is bullshit.

But throwing him in jail because he said something you and I don't like? Nope. Nuh uh. That's authoritarian thought crime bullshit and it's just as pernicious as the bullshit he's peddling to his mouth-breathing Groyper idiots. He has the right to say stupid shit, we have the right to mock him. We don't have the right to jail him, full stop. That's how it works and how it should work.

And evidently it does need to be pointed out that the First Amendment is still a thing since I see comments on DU advocating for jailing or punishing people for their opinions, such as the one I replied to, or comments advocating shutting down news outlets we don't like.

If you think that's okay then you're in favor of authoritarian thought crime bullshit. It's pretty simple.
