If a Dem AG (no more Special Prosecutors since Trump will never be a presidential candidate again) decides to seek charges for crimes that haven’t passed the statute of limitations, then a judge would be selected from a pool (only 3 in the MAL district IIRC).

The next Dem AG will already have an evidence base (Thanks Merrick Garland!- seriously, it’s the one thing Cannon couldn’t exclude because it was obtained before Smith was appointed) to justify a search warrant for classified documents. Hopefully, they will conducts raids/searches simultaneously in NY, NJ and MAL.
