Blondi and her White American Woman Delusion [View all]
It shouldn't be lost on anyone where Pam "Blondi" Bondi gets her nerve. As large numbers of American flirt with moving on from some of America's more sinister traditions, Blondi is doubling down.
We're all familiar of a certain stereotype of white women who still think it to be a crime to be insulted by or not obliged by nonwhites. They typically want to talk to the manage or they speed dial the cops on their phone to report an ouch on their ego. They feel empowered to do this because they've always been protected by white men who are devoted to the preservation of white male privilege.
This has been a stubborn congenital flaw with which America continues to grapple. While the film "Birth of a Nation" actually celebrates this unquestioned sanctity of white women while demonizing black me, it's taken years for people to stop making excuses for its disgusting portrayals of race.
That's why we have people like Jenna Ryan, a January 6 Capitol terrorist who tweeted Definitely not going to jail. Sorry I have blonde hair white skin a great job a great future and Im not going to jail. Sorry to rain on your hater parade. I did nothing wrong. This was after shouting "hang Mike Pence" along with other infractions. Ryan went to prison before being pardoned by a white man devoted to preserving white privilege.
Then we have Blondi. Her old friends don't recognize her since she went from being perhaps a more decent person to the enclave of more subservient caucasian women. Blondi has apparently regressed to what she is today having put all her eggs in the basket of a brand of patriarchy that's not sustainable. She is giving unwavering cover to a reputed under-bus-thrower in the belief that her best bet is to stick by him as he goes sundowning in flames.
To her credit, it's not like there's an end in sight for the collapse of the overall power structure she has chosen. If and when her boss goes down, there may be some other white dude to protect her from the sullen mob. Or there might not be. Jenna Ryan did spend some time in prison before being rescued, but counter to her nervy proclamation, she did go to prison.
Watch your back Blondi.
