In reply to the discussion: Clarence Thomas hit with astonishing accusation in Epstein files [View all]amcgrath
(431 posts)We know the DOJ has padded the files release with ridiculous and easily disproven claims. Calls and tips from the usual cranks who confess or testify to crimes that never occurred. Remember the reams written and posted on events in a basement that never existed in Pizzagate.
We have seen cases in the past where authorities, media and the public have raised certain witnesses and claims that are extreme and grab all the attention. This is intentional. By setting them up, the authorities draw all attention to a story or witness that is easily debunked. Then when they burst that bubble the entire thing is discredited, and credible claims and evidence are just cast aside.
A large scale investigation in the UK some years ago was begun after a number of victims came forward. The police and media promoted one claimed victim whose most spurious and fantastic of claims were given full attention. He became the whole investigation for police statements and the media. Ten minutes of actual background checks would have exposed the "victim". Instead he was made the poster boy - before he was finally exposed - by the police - as a liar and abuser himself. That was that. The investigation was immediately shut down and the credible witnesses and victims testimony was tossed out with the garbage.
There is enough credible evidence and enough credible witnesses to win many cases. I distrust Clarence Thomas completely. I'm just saying don't be distracted
