4. No matter how much he wants to schmooze with Trump

Yesterday

Mamdani must surely realize that he was elected by the people of New York, and not Trump.

The only popular outpourings of citizens to ICE actions in New York City have been in opposition to those ICE actions. There have been no groups cheering them on. It is therefore clear that the people of New York City do not want ICE around. Mamdani either sides with them or he sides with Trump. My bet is he sides with his constituency. I can’t imagine he made this great effort to get elected as mayor just to risk massive demonstrations calling for his resignation before he even takes office.
