Mental status screenings such as the Mini or the MoCa ordinarily take maybe 10 minutes? A formal examination for declining cognition or the advent of dementia would be oh, 2 hours? or in some cases three or four. Trump is describing a screening, which is not by itself diagnostic.

But I suspect he like most people doesn’t understand the difference. I’m not sure mental decline, though present, is at the root of his behavior. My guess would be age, stress, and exhaustion play as big a role, along with a native personality disorder.
