First of all, Trump's doing this because John Roberts told him he's King of America, and above all laws. Anything that smacks of "illegal" or "unethical" is like CATNIP to Trump. The impulsive toddler is powerless to resist.

And I don't think I've ever met a Democrat who was "against law and order."

But that's not what this is about at all. A Military presence on U.S. streets without a situation that clearly warrants it is not "law and order," it's authoritarianism.

So Democrats view it as that, and Trump spins it as Democrats being in favor of lawlessness. He knows it's a lie but it supports his narrative, so he doesn't care. He just keeps repeating it and the MAGAts, being the trained seals that they are, keep repeating it for him.
