There was no discovery and no court-ordered deposition done via the normal process with both attorneys and the plaintiff present, etc. Lawyers wrote the compliant and someone signed it saying they're the victim, along with an explanation why they have to remain anonymous. The court may not even know who this person really was. Honestly I could give you about 10 distinct signs that the case was a hoax if you'd like me to run them all down

To be really clear, I'm not accusing a women of making up a rape, I'm saying I think there isn't even a woman IRL. Just two known-shady (one of them a vocal Republican "never-Trumper" ) men that probably concocted the story, for money, and even possibly to bring down Trump before the election. I wouldn't say that kind of thing lightly because I know how will come off on this board, but I think in this ONE CASE, there's actual signs he was being framed.

Logically this implies it was withdrawn right before court not because a woman feared for her life, but rather because the perps of the hoax chickened out on it once the chips were down and things got real (i.e. the court date arrived).

IMHO, the most objective reading suggests what these two guys (both known purveyors of tabloid trash) were really trying to do was get someone to "buy the story" they were AGGRESSIVELY shopping to media outlets (for up to $1M). Nobody bought it ahead of time like they'd wanted (because their case was unconvincing), so they pulled the plug rather than face a judge with no actual victim.
