say the judges violated the so-called Purcell principle by making major changes in the election map midway through the candidate filing period. So although it is obvious racial gerrymandering (you cannot partisan gerrymander without considering race because majority of whites vote Republican), from what I hear and read here in Austin, they are confident it will prevail at least until after the mid-terms.

Purcell Principle - courts should not change election rules during the period of time just prior to an election because doing so could confuse voters and create problems for officials administering the election.
