A thing to remember as people contemplate where we are [View all]

in the US and the danger we face. The argument and discussion over what lengths Crumb The 1st could go to or what actions he could take always has people trying to temper the sense of danger by downplaying the idea that he would take extreme actions. But in reality arguing that he wouldn't do something is based on holding on to the idea that there is some fear on his part of accountability or that some institution of government would hold him accountable and so he would be chastened from doing the act.

But I submit that he would not feel restrained in taking an act because of the SC ruling about immunity. I submit he has openly shown he doesn't care about his cruelty and he views attempts to hold him accountable as simply another battle to wage. There is no larger sense of things or a longer view of what impact his actions have.

So the reality is that if he were to order the killing of a political opponent he would not be prosecuted under the SC ruling as long as he claims it as a Presidential act. An institution try to hold him accountable and declare the act was illegal and not a Presidential act? He can have them removed or killed as well.

Yes I know all of the above sounds extreme and over the top because our rational minds operate from the basis that no President would do such an outrageous thing. All the while haven't we been coming from the same basis regarding his actions to this point? We have argued that it is inconceivable that any President would pardon the January 6th criminals, pour masked, anonymous troops into the streets of our cities to grab people at will and abuse them and disappear them, gleefully deprive millions of children of food and health care, end foreign aid that in less than a year is calculated as causing the deaths of hundreds of thousand of children, gleefully end foreign aid and watch the prevention of disease in poorer countries decrease and the list of horrors goes on.

Despite our rational minds telling us that certainly there are some bridges too far we have seen that argument tested and fail. So here we are. Some are considering the question of whether a heinous act of shooting two soldiers may have been some scheme of his. Others argue such a thing is too outlandish. I submit that the danger we face is not whether he did but the fact that he would if he wanted to.

He added to the pile of dead bodies during the early Covid years, he now added to the pile of dead children around the world, he has favored sex criminals with pardons and protection and the list goes on. All while openly extorting countries, institutions and businesses for his own financial enrichment. At long last Americans need to realize there is no bridge too far, no level that is too low and thinking along the normal rational lines and expecting that those exist and will give some restraint is not borne out by the reality of what has been done.
