I'll hazard a guess.
They overproduce Venezuelan oil, increase the glut, drive prices down, gas gets cheap, transport cosrs go down lowering inflationary pressures, and Rs can take a victory lap going into the mid-terms.
They very well be taking desperate measures because they're scared on the '26 results.
Doesn't make it legal or right, but they don't care about legal or right. They just care about power.
