4. Chi Osse likely dropping challenge of Rep. Hakeem Jeffries after DSA votes against endorsement

"Likely" is the operative word, heh
===================================================
City Councilman Chi Osse is all but certainly giving up his challenge of Brooklyn Congressman Hakeem Jeffries in next year’s congressional elections after members of New York City’s Democratic Socialists of America chapter voted against offering Osse the group’s endorsement on Saturday.

The vote — which had 52% of members voting against an endorsement, 46% in favor and 2% abstaining — is a relief for Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, a DSA member who directly urged the group to not endorse Osse.

Late Saturday night, after the vote came in, Osse signaled to the Daily News he’s likely not going to launch a 2026 primary run against Jeffries, the powerful U.S. House Democratic leader.

“I have no intention of running this race without the support of NYC-DSA, of which I am proud to be a member,” Osse, whose Council district spans Crown Heights and Bedstuy, said in a text message.

I never thought he should primary Jeffires, but your OP stated he dropped out, yet nothing you posted in it said that. Celerity Nov 24 #7

Nobody is above a primary. We should respect the system. Jbraybarten Nov 24 #5
Similarly, there's no point in waging a campaign that even your own allies aren't interested in supporting. tritsofme Nov 24 #9
That's up to the candidate. It's better for the system to not squash primaries. Jbraybarten Nov 24 #10
No one is "squashing" anything. People are simply telling him "no thanks" tritsofme Nov 24 #11

His reasons for running against the Democratic Party seem to be vague grievances about fighting and vision. betsuni Nov 24 #16
