When my little dogs were alive they would go with me. They were even given an "I VOTED" sticker. I still have them all over their stuffed animals, chew toys. The people working the polls loved them!!!!

I worked at the polls for a few years while in college and I taught my 1st grade students how to vote and we had a Civics Lesson each year when I became a teacher. I even took them on a "field trip" to the multi-purpose room where people were voting. The people working the polls at my school loved giving my VERY quiet, interested and polite students a "how-to" in public voting. They thought my kids were "so cute".

We voted ALL THE TIME in my class! I still have sheets of I VOTED stickers in 4 different languages (my school was multi cultural). We voted on issues that THEY cared about (everything from "What game should we play at recess?", to "What would you like added to the lunch menu to make it healthier?"

They has 100% ownership! This was very important to them. Then THEY would pass out blank slips of paper (to stay anonymous) and they would write down their choice with their little "privacy boards" up so neighboring students couldn't see their vote). They collected the papers and they read the results and they did the tallies and math on the white board. I was just there staying silent as they ran the show.

I still write to my former students from the 1990s and they remember my "civics /voting lessons". I am so proud!!!
