If it’s any encouragement, my wife has battled cancer twice, and beaten it both times.

The first time was breast cancer when she was 49. She went through the whole cycle: operation, chemo, radiation, and a month at a cancer patient wellness/rehab spa (considered a standard part of cancer treatment in Germany, and covered by insurance).

The second time was 15 years later, when she was diagnosed with “the Murderer,” a rare form of uterine/ovarian cancer that only strikes women who are slender or of advanced age. It is called the Murderer because it is so silent, it is never discovered until it has spread, and it is too late to contain. It is always fatal, EXCEPT: my wife was that one patient in ten thousand who had it discovered in its initial stage, purely by accident. The surgeon who performed the six hour operation said she just might be that one woman who survives the diagnosis. That was nine years ago, and she is still with me, cancer-free (as far as we know, anyway). So, sometimes, you DO get lucky. Never forget that!
