They re-enacted the event at the time of day she said it occurred, and it became completely evident that there was no way it could have happened. Not without many, many witnesses – which of course wasn't there.

The whole PBS piece was very well done. After that, all the hyperventilating on social media just went out like a deflating balloon. All the for-profit media were getting a lot of mileage off of it until then.
