Tegna is basically all the TV stations that Gannett (notably publisher of USA Today) used to own.
Nexstar obviously wants to remain on the present administration's good side so they can get the merger through.
Sinclair is also in the process of acquiring more broadcast outlets. Though their management ideology aligns with that of the present administration, they too need to keep in Trumps good graces.
