John Bolton may be an asshole, but [View all]

what the FBI has done regarding his book is unacceptable. Trump is using the arms of the government to pursue his personal list of enemies, which is anyone who ever prosecuted his own crimes or spoke against him.

Who knows if Bolton wrote lies or overstepped his boundaries. He still has free speech rights by the First Amendment. We may not like him, but his rights under the Constitution are to be protected despite that. Kash Patel is a bigger asshole than John Bolton.

The redress should have been through a civil suit. This isn't equal to what Trump did, which was to make off with classified documents and store them in his bathroom like toilet paper. Trump thinks it's acceptable for Bolton to have his house searched, because Trump went through it. If it's acceptable for Bolton to go though it simply because he published a book and spoke against Trump, then we have all given up our First Amendment rights to the whim of Trump.
