out in public like this. He knows he is not liked (no matter how much he might deny it) by the majority of Americans. He knows he is hurting a lot of people--even his 2024 supporters. He's clearly afraid of dying "with his sins," yet not afraid of those who might be mentally subject to the violent entreaties of others?
