(13,455 posts)56. Yes, hospice is Medicare. No income or asset test. Everyone on Medicare is eligible
if they are judged to be near death.
Medicaid is different. Its meant for people who are indigent and it covers their long-term nursing home care. Some people have to spend down their assets in order to become eligible, but without Medicaid they would not be able to afford the nursing home.

Think most states have a cruel/criminal $2000 or so cap. Unfortunately, if she loses Medicaid, that $8000 will be
