When we fail to do this, we risk low voter engagement because voters then feel that their voices were not heard in the process, and that this is not "their" candidate. They feel it is not a fair process. Or at least some will feel that way.
We had a large number of democratic voters stay home in 2024 and just not vote. We can't have that happen. We must have a primary.

And that was a HUGE problem in 2024. The nominee did not come out of a primary process.
