OK. limitations being what they are, let's skip to the conclusion!!!

And here it is:
The choice isn't whether to try to start building a global network of democracies, but when, and how we will begin.

What should be done?
A global union of democracies might come across as idealistic or pie-in-the-sky at first. And this isn't the only idea worth considering. But consider that the noösphere is already here. (1) Elon Musk controls Starlink, the furthest-reaching system of global communications in history, and he's not on the side of democracy. Meanwhile we're dealing with real challenges like climate that require global coordination.

Rather than merely defending democracy, fretting over each setback, it is time for us to construct a new reality that gains momentum over time. This is what we mean by nucleate, and each of us can be that nucleus within our own communities. This work will take time. And while we may not have it, the scope and scale required means this work cannot be meaningfully rushed. Deep change requires patience. It's time for us to replace shallow urgency with rightful action.

Big tech is working against us, so think differently about organizing. Instead of social media, turn towards small networks, group chats, and the open web. Host events in your area. Meet your neighbors. Build networks of contacts in other countries. Expect to spend the rest of your life on this work — and to entrust it to your kids, too.

At this point it seems very unlikely that we can turn things around through voting alone. The 20th century institutions that have carried us in the post-war era are, it seems, no longer fit for purpose. While Streit's vision is radically different from the world as we know it today, we are called upon to pursue it (along with other related experiments) if we want to carry democratic values in to the 22nd century. If we don't, we will be left to live in a world dominated by Musk, Thiel, and Putin, rooted in the ideologies of Ilyin, Evola, Yockey, Yarvin, and Dugin. (2) The choice is ours.

I skipped a ton. Go read.
Spoiler alert, there are Epstein articles linked there.

(1) noösphere: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noosphere

The noosphere (alternate spelling noösphere) is a philosophical concept developed and popularized by the biogeochemist Vladimir Vernadsky and philosopher and Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. Vernadsky defined the noosphere as the new state of the biosphere,[ and described it as the planetary "sphere of reason". The noosphere represents the highest stage of biospheric development, that of humankind's rational activities

The word is derived from the Greek νόος ("nous, mind, reason" ) and σφαῖρα ("sphere" ), in lexical analogy to "atmosphere" and "biosphere".The concept cannot be accredited to a single author. The founding authors Vernadsky and de Chardin developed two related but starkly different concepts, the former grounded in the geological sciences, and the latter in theology. Both conceptions of the noosphere share the common thesis that together human reason and scientific thought have created, and will continue to create, the next evolutionary geological layer. This geological layer is part of the evolutionary chain

(2) More than you ever wanted to know about techno (and white) supremacists:

Extreme libertarianism. I've posted about this.
