How MSNBC hurts the Democratic Party

There are a lot of people struggling in our country today. They are having a hard time paying for their groceries, paying the rent, making ends meet. They have no savings. Many of them don't trust either party to make things better. It has been that way for decades now. If you watched the nighttime hosts on MSNBC, you would think that the only problem in the world is Donald Trump. Everything was wonderful before Trump was elected for the second time. This is good for their ratings and does not make their corporate sponsors nervous. The result is a base that is obsessed with Trump instead of what would win us elections - making a difference in people's lives.

They are not the only culprit in this problem but probably the main one. There are the liberal podcasters with their exaggerations and hype.

I’m actually glad for me that MSNBC became so unwatchable 3-4 years ago. My mental health certainly improved notwithstanding what’s going on in the world.

Cutting out vodka no doubt helped too!

2. You won't have to worry about MSNBC much longer

after Krasnov initiates state TV. We are right there now on the doorstep of a Dictatorship.

The freaking election is 15 months away so my opinion is that we need to fight what is happening now so that we can have a fair election in 2026.

My dad told me back in 1953 that rich people vote for Republicans and poor people vote for Democrats, that statement has never changed since then and MSNBC or any other news network isn't going to change my mind.

and people on DU were whining about it - "I need to see Jill Wine-Banks for the 300th time speculating about what might be in the Mueller report".

11. Out of 170 million voters in the US

msnbc averages a half million at a time, around 900 thousand during prime time.

I'd say an even bigger problem is people watch it and spout off what they heard. Some people are offended and vote the other way just to be contrary.

TV is for old people mostly.

12. You make a good point, but I think it has some impact on what Democratic elected officials focus on.

Just about every Congressman and Senator wants the national exposure of being on television to increase their name id and fundraising; there's still a cache about being on expensive national television - it results in a clip being put on the Internet that is much more impressive seeming than some self-posted Bluesky post. Consequently, I think Democratic elected officials have figured out that it they want to be something of a "name", they need to play to the part of the base who watches MSNBC/reads the liberal blogs.
