History repeats itself. If you have Prime or PBS in your area and you haven't watched the WW II-based program....

.... Foyle's War, do yourself a favor, find a source, and watch it. The first episode The German Women has some interesting dialogue near the end at the 1:20:04 mark with Foyle talking to his driver, "Sam." Below is a transcript of a conversation that could be spoken today.

Foyle's War has nine seasons covering WW II, 1940-1945, with historically sound scripts and NO war scenes. It is a small regional police department dealing with broken laws, with a war as the backdrop.

[Mr. Kramer], "I don't know you." [Foyle] "No, I'm a police officer. I'm a detective. Would you like to sit down? I met your nephew, Mark."

[Mr. Kramer], "Is he in trouble?

[Foyle], "No, but he brought my attention to what's happened to you, and I'm here to help. I've arranged a special dispensation for you. You don't have to stay here any longer. You can go home."

[Mr. Kramer], "Why do you want to do this for me?"

[Foyle], "Mr. Kramer, what happened to you and your wife was wrong, and I'm very sorry."

[Mr. Kramer], "You don't think that it's perhaps too late?"

[Foyle], "Well, Mr. Kramer, we are at war, and there are going to be casualties, and some of them are going to be innocent, like your wife. I couldn't do anything to help her, but I can do something to help you. Well, do you want to leave, or don't you"?

[Mr. Kramer], "I want to leave?"

Scene change: Foyle and Sam are in a car, and Sam is driving.

[Foyle] Do you know Sam? I think we got it wrong.
[Sam], "The case?"

[Foyle], "No enemy aliens."

[Sam] "I was reading the Mail (British newspaper), they were saying that Norway would never fall if it hadn't been for the Germans and their friends inside the country. Because people like that well, it makes you think, because it well........."

[Foyle], "The Mail!" Fleet Street (think Fox) would rather you didn't think, that's the whole point.

[Foyle], "I mean, these people have fled their own country. It never had a concentration camp, and God knows what. They were to give up everything, their homes, their possessions, and getting out of a country is hard enough! Getting into another one is even worse. They have to be sponsored. The British consul calls immigration tribunals. The local police.. when they finally do settle down. What do we do, we arrest them and lock them up again........"
