He's already said if we are at war..........we can't have elections. All part of his Martial law plans.

He doesn't want to give up the WH under any circumstance. He wants to install himself as king, dictator... he doesn't really care what it's called as long as he's sitting in the WH, under his power. He knows he's headed either to death or prison once he's out of office, so just never leave office. It seems so simple to him. Never mind that it's blatantly illegal. Legal is anything he okays. But he also knows he has to keep the rest of the government (what there is left of it) in line... and he can't do that with an overwhelming majority of Democrats in office. He's shot the wad during this first term in office. Even many magas are turning against him. No more elections means holding the line against advancing demographics and progressive politics that completely work against him. And, when he does realize it's time to leave, he can just leave the Resolute Desk to Don Jr or Ivanka, and create the Dynasty he's so badly wanted all his life.
