Our grandkids are gonna burn to death, but hey, this video is too long to watch!

And remember, these are the Brits, who are junior varsity on fucking up the environment compared to us.

Glad you’re here!

And I have two grandkids by now, so it matters.

as much of the southwest is running out of water, from the drying Ogalallla Aquifer below southern Kansas (for now) to the problems caused by overdevelopment and poor agricultural practices in AZ and drought in CA. Much of this area will be largely uninhabitable in a couple of centuries....or sooner.

Iran is preparing to abandon its capital city because the rains failed and its reservoirs are dry*. There are 10 million or so people in Tehran and the magical thinking of the religious leaders seems to have delayed planning until it is almost too late.

*Yes, there are satellite pictures, only small puddles of water remaining, surrounded by sand in huge, empty reservoirs. This is bad.

and they do always make me think.
About a decade ago I saw a presentation given by Col Larry Wilkerson, Colin Powell's chief of staff, in which he said that a NASA climatologist told him that under a worst case scenario by 2100 there would be only enough arable land on the planet to feed 400 million people. Of course since then we have exceeded the IPCC worst case scenarios. When Col. Wilkerson said that his question to the scientist was, "Where do you bury nine billion people?" the audience in Texas seemed to have no clue about what this meant.

The UK (and US) military, "free markets," consumerism, growth, and GDP economic ideas are entirely incompatible with effective action to preserve and restore the Earth as a safe home for humanity (and all of life.)

Rule Britannia! or the planet. Pick one.
