She says Ghazala Hashmi is the first Muslim woman elected to a state-wide position in the country, but that's not true. Nabeela Syed was elected to the Illinois General Assembly 2022.

That being said, the rest of this video is spot-on!

While it is a state body an assembly member isnt a statewide office.
