Christianity in this country has turned into a crisis cult, like the Ghost Dance among the Native Americans at the end of the 19th century. But the Ghost Dance promised peace and prosperity, not violence. These people know their patriarchal grift is threatened and are spiraling into magical thinking and delusions of grandeur. This religion of violence among the ignorant and unhinged Christian right is profoundly dangerous, and should be denounced as heresy by the more traditional Christian denominations. But of course — crickets.
