They have some great shows, like the gardening show and the show devoted to fixing houses and the troubleshooting show about cars. They discuss the work of the legislature and the governor and other state officials. They do it in greater detail than most media in the state. After all, newspapers are going out of business.

One thing I'll always appreciate public radio for is their coverage of disasters. I remember fondly how, during Katrina and its aftermath, people all over the state who were calling in to the station offering places to stay to evacuees. People were taking in total strangers! It was so beautiful to hear people willing to put themselves at risk in order to help others at a terrible time. It made me appreciate the people here more.
