What Happens When Private Equity Comes to Your Town's Hospital - More Perfect Union

Last month, a woman showed up to a hospital in Pennsylvania with a barely breathing baby — only to find the hospital closed.

Why? The hospital's owner sent millions to private equity investors instead of investing in healthcare.

Now patients and workers are paying the price.

====================

I have first-hand experience about a decade ago when the rural hospital in Wharton, Texas where my brother work closed. The fraudster that orchestrated the closing of the hospital along with several others in the country is living comfortably in a resort in Arizona.

Like they did in MO (Missouri), they closed a lot of the smaller places in MO, mainly those in smaller towns. SWBTATTReg 21 hrs ago #1

Disgusting when all of a sudden, medical deserts opened up in the vastness of rural Missouri. People were having to drive literally 1/2 hundred miles just for a dental appt, or any other sort of appt, often times even longer distances. That's one reason why I didn't move to the Ozarks, MO where my folks retired ultimately to. I have/had too many health reasons to not place my life in danger living out there.
