(54,759 posts)If Trump & Co. had called the Iran "action" a "war," there would be delay, if not outright intransigence, by the Pentagon while their legal teams parsed through military caselaw and constitutional caselaw to see if starting a war without Congress would be an "illegal act". (See Mark Kelly.)
By promoting the fallacy that it was just another American military police action, in-and-out, it wasn't technically a "war", and that the Pentagon and all branches of the military could just do whatever Trump and Hegseth told them to do.
So . . . . when is a war not a war?

(5 posts)Starting wars without the input from our congress is a crime to me. The ppl of this country have no say when our families go to war that creates death and debt that it brings to this nation. Trump and many others plan to profit off this war. Now I heard today that Trump and Netanyahu planed this for weeks. Hearings need to be held and a bill passed where no president unilaterally can start wars without congress. We can attack back if attacked, otherwise not way. We have been down this road to many times already. One person should not have that power.
