An interesting post in LBN reveals how Trumpworld is planning to bring more 'truthiness' to that boring sciencey stuff.

Of course Trmp is going to try to destroy EPA and is actively doing so, because GOPers don't believe anyone has a right to stop corps from making huge profits just because they're destroying the planet in the process. Whenever GOPers use the word "reform", they use it as a conveniently short synonym for "destroy or at least disable". They're trying to tighten the leash on those uppity research scientists by moving scientific research into the administrative offices -- research will not be controlled by scientists, but by policy toadies. The ORD will be broken up and dispersed, even geographically, with people being force to relocate or else. Many are likely to choose "else".

I wonder how many species will go extinct, and how many preventable cancers will claim lives, before the toxic legacy of Trmp is finally undone.

I shudder to think how much more will be destroyed by January 20, 2029.

The end game is to re-purpose the EPA as a pro-extraction agency.

This move and disperse play is similar to the sidelining of science at the Deportment of Agriculture during Trump's first term.

Timber, cattle, and mining are all EXTRACTIVIST industries, which take from Nature, leave a mess, and don't have to put back any of what they have taken (except for some token efforts which are more show than substance). For most of history, most people didn't care, because they believed Nature to be effectively inexhaustible, and capable of cleaning up anything we wanted to dump in the environment. After millennia of uncontrolled population growth, that's not anywhere close to being true. But people who made gazillions of $$$$ doing things that way don't want to change, and the politicians they buy off (like Trmp and his minions) know that's what they're being paid to take care of.

The voters are only their tools, the "donors" are their paying customers.
