Kanye West meets Rabbi Pinto to apologize for antisemitic tirades

Rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, apologizes for his antisemitic outbursts over the past few years, in a meeting with Israeli-Moroccan Orthodox Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto in New York.

“I’m really blessed to be able to sit here with you today and just take accountability,” West tells the rabbi, communicating to him through a translator.

“I was dealing with some various issues, bipolar, also, so it would take the ideas I had and had them, take them to an extreme where I would forget about the protection of the people around me, or myself,” he says.

Judaism brought to the world a way for someone, when he regrets something that you have done wrong … you can regret and fix it,” the rabbi says through the translator.

West — the winner of 24 Grammys over the course of his career in hip-hop — in recent years has made repeated antisemitic and pro-Nazi statements. Earlier this year, he released a song titled “Heil Hitler,” promoting Nazism. For years, West has spoken openly about struggles with bipolar disorder.
