I think George Clooney may be a Lightworker....
I just watched his incredible play (which was live on CNN last night), Goodnight and Goodluck, and it was amazing.

I also looked for it on YouTube and it's not on there yet but maybe could be in the future. It's over two hours long.

(27,891 posts)As a student of history, I know all about the McCarthy hearings, but the meshing of the play with the actual film footage of the event was wonderful.

I thought it was so innovative (especially as a play).
And yes, the montage throughout was indeed wonderful...(I'm such a nerd. I just googled "montage" to see if I was using it correctly but I'm ditzy right now and am still unclear

(43,518 posts)I wish I'd known about the CNN show. Please let us know if you see a repeat.
The 60" report had some of the montage clips and I know I'd like to see more.
I have a friend who was affected by the McCarthy witch hunts. He has crossed over, but back at that time he was an editor at Newsweek. The FBI kept coming around to question him at the workplace and that kinda' ruined his career prospects. So he left and started his own business where he was wildly successful and became a multi millionaire. He gave away most of his money because he's not very materialistic. He just did the business as a mental challenge. Still, I remember him talking about how they intimidated people. He put his money into a foundation that is still in effect; it's purpose is to cut minorities a break with things like scholarships, etc.

(4,065 posts)CNN bought the rights to only the one performance, but I believe Clooney owns the general rights, so he may make it available later.
In the interim, the play is based on the movie, which is also excellent and worth watching. (Clooney plays Fred Friendly, not ERM, but I quite liked David Strathairn in the lead.) The only difference is you won't see the wonderful montage at the end. I suspect someone captured that and it's on social media somewhere.
