(25,384 posts)He's my fave qb of all time! I had such great times watching him win all those games with the Niners and then the Chiefs!

(44,304 posts)YEH THE 49ers HAD it pretty good all those years despite the fact I rooted for the team across the BAY, and coach John Madden.

(1,055 posts)As a Washington football fan during that time I couldn't stand him but until Brady came along only he and Bradshaw had won four Superbowl Titles.
Best_man23
(5,263 posts)He won 3 Super Bowls with 3 different QBs. That feat was not done before, nor has it been done since.

(1,208 posts)What a time it was to be a Niners fan!

(39,046 posts)I cant remember how many times he brought the team back from sure defeat with just two minutes on the clock.
It was nerve racking and exciting at the same time, week after week!

(43,618 posts)Itll give you a hint how good he was.

(24,053 posts)*I have his rookie card from when I was a kid. Not sure of its value today. Probably about a buck three-fifty.
ProfessorGAC
(74,082 posts)I've seen PSA 7 rookie cards for him at $150-160.
Even PSA 4s have sold for nearly a hundred bucks.
But, the card market fluctuates so much, who knows until someone actually lays down cash for one.
True Dough
(24,053 posts)I bought it screwed between two plastic protective coverings for $75 many years ago. Thought back then it might be my retirement ticket several decades later. LOL!
ProfessorGAC
(74,082 posts)...a first run JM rookie card, at PSA 10 (and encased as you describe) sold for $37,200.
I have no idea how the know if it's first run or not, because I saw other PSA 10 cards that sold for $400.
Go figure!

(24,053 posts)with anything in the five digits! I guess I should have it assessed some day.

(39,046 posts)Along with teammates, Ronnie Lott, Dwight Clark, and Riki Ellison.
The late great Dwight Clark, Huey's buddy (who had already been featured on the cover of Huey's smash hit Sports album), turned out to have some genuine chops and performed live with Huey Lewis & the News on stage.
Dwight Clark making "The Catch" (Thrown by Joe Montana) on the television on the cover of Sports (Photo taken inside the 'Duce' (2am Club) in Mill Valley, California, my old drinking hole.)

A little amusing backstory bonus:
Morbius
(623 posts)All he did was win.
LisaM
(29,327 posts)No team ever felt safe if the game was close and Montana could win it with a two-minute drill.
Stats can be very phony, IMO. Carl Lewis didn't always set records. He just racked up a ton of medals.
