Related: About this forumWould you fire Mike McCarthy?
Didn't seem to me Dallas was mentally prepared on a few occasions this season. Not saying they should have gone undeafted, but when they lost, they lost big.
We've talked earlier about the dangers of believing the hype, both outside and internal, and how it falls on the head coach to keep the players focused no matter the opponent. The Cowboys looked soft, expected an easy win, while the Packers played with fire in their bellies. It was an epic fail by McCarthy IMO.
Thoughts?

You don't win 12 games a year, three years in a row if You're a lousy coach.
31 NFL teams end each season with a loss.

(53,544 posts)I don't expect Bill to have that much more time left in his coaching career. Not enough time to get anything done with Dallas.
True Dough
(24,053 posts)He's 15 wins away from the all-time coaching wins record and the options among the teams with openings are pretty unattractive from a competitive standpoint.
Atlanta
Carolina
Las Vegas
Seattle
Tennessee
Washington
L.A. Chargers (as of yesterday, rumored to be in talks with Jim Harbaugh)
Which of those spots do you think would be optimal for Belichick to land in so he can clinch that record that he obviously covets?

(5,961 posts)He has a history of success, but wouldn't surprise me if he's replaced. Jerry Jones wants another Super Bowl before he dies, just like Aaron Rodgers wanted another trip to the big game in Green Bay. The head coach takes the heat when team doesn't win the 'big' games.
If it were me, I'd keep the head coach and cut the quarterback who has a history of choking in the big games.
