snowy owls.

so, i’m in chicago. my ex is in s mich, around benton harbor. lives on a small lake. he texts me his unusual bird sightings.
this morning he says there’s snowy owls on his lake. we get them every few yrs in chgo, but i dont recall them ever being this early.
i’m taking this as a bad sign.

correction- they werent at his beach. they’re in chgo.

1. The hummingbirds have stayed around very late.

I usually don’t see them after October 1, the last one I saw this year was October 24. And my friend in New Mexico is still seeing them every day fly by and use her feeder. I have no idea if that means it’s gonna be a bad winner or not but it’s definitely different.

The snowy owl was perched on top of a small building that just under the guy had a sign that said "Montrose Beach".

There were about 15 of my fellow bird nerds with cameras and binoculars there. I snapped a crappy photo with my phone. His is beautiful.
