(4,107 posts)1. Have you downloaded the free app called "Merlin"?
It let's you identify birds by pictures, songs, or your descriptions of where you saw it.
You can record their songs or calls and it identifies them.
It asks the general size, colors, whether it was flying, on a structure (tree) or on the ground. It is amazing how accurate it is when identifying birds I wasn't familiar with.
Signing up was a bit of a hassle, but it has proven to be one of my favorite apps.
Please give it a look, I have nothing to do with it except as a very happy user.
