Bird migration forecast maps

Keep watch birders, new visitors might make a pit stop at your bird feeder soon. We have some massive migration nights coming! Saturday night might end up being the biggest night for the fall migration this season. This is earlier than normal, but it is hard to imagine us getting a better weather set up than this. A massive area of high pressure to the west and a sharp cold front reaching the Gulf Coast late Saturday night will produce ideal low level winds across the entire eastern half of the country. We have already seen big bird surges behind these cold fronts, and this set up is much better and more widespread. Birdcast is estimating there will be about as many birds in the air as humans living in the US on Saturday night. You can help these birds by turning off your outdoor lights. Light pollution can confuse migrating birds and cause them to get off course.
