ST. LOUIS -- Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani reached another superhuman achievement Wednesday night, striking out 13 batters to reach 500 in his career, which made him just the second player in AL/NL history to record 500 strikeouts as a pitcher and 100 homers as a hitter, joining Hall of Famer Babe Ruth.
But Ohtani also showed hes human, as he struggled through a three-run fourth inning and gave up four runs over five innings in a second straight tough outing. But Jake Lamb and Mike Trout both homered in the ninth to lead the Angels to a 6-4 win and help Ohtani avoid the loss against the Cardinals on Wednesday at Busch Stadium.

(37,786 posts)Granted, who knows how much longer he will be both pitching AND batting. But still the guy is just unreal!

I can't really remember, but I think I read that.

(37,786 posts)When you consider how many records he set and how players today have access to specialized trainers, nutrition, and treatments that werent around in Ruths day.

You don't find many single saviors of a sport.
I know a guy who has signed ball by him.
