https://www.theverge.com/news/820065/tesla-apple-carplay-develop-phone-mirrorShort of it:
Its indicative of this strange, upside down time in which we live that a company like GM is actively plotting how to fortify its own software to obviate the need for CarPlay, based largely on the success of EV-only companies like Tesla and Rivian that dont allow phone projection and meanwhile, one of those same EV-only companies is now contemplating its own flip-flop on CarPlay. Wild stuff!
Translation: You're not buying a Tesla. You're buying Car Play. Buy one? Pretty please?

(22,488 posts)World's worst display (they have vastly improved it since then.) All glare, useful only at night. World's worst entertainment system (Admittely the CD player, which is probably N/A now, beat the hell out of the cassette tape in the 20-year old Tacoma) and here's the best/worst part.
I plugged the phone into the USB port to charge while using its GPS.
No way in hell could I get any sound.
So, after the usual "Try everything imaginable" it turns out that using a 12-volt plug-in charger solved it. The audio had been going to some place in the next galaxy. I couldn't find it anywhere, so the talking navigator was silent, using that USB port.
Heck, it's paid off and I have old ipods.
In the mountains, signal will definitely still go away in spots.
Ancient 2018 technology!!!
