The MG3, hybrid

This weekend I had to drive the family up to the Dresden area. My rental car turned out to be an MG3. Not the MG I am used to,
Come with an automatic. It is a 4 door hatchback. We put 3 people in it with some luggage. I managed to put nearly a 1000 kilometers, 600 miles. Pretty comfortable. The touch screen is a pain. I had my wife wrangle it most of the time. The picture of the dash shows that I was loafing down the Autobahn. The little red circle shows the speed limit. The 3 black dots means the restriction has been removed. This circle blinks when you go over the limit by 1 kilometer and above....

The MG3 Hybrid+ features a 75kW (102 PS) petrol engine and a 100kW (136 PS) electric motor, with a combined system output of 143kW (195 PS). It has a 3-speed automatic transmission and a 1.83 kWh battery. The combined fuel consumption is 4.4 l/100 km,

The MG3 is a small car produced by the Chinese automotive company SAIC under the British MG marque. The first generation, marketed as the MG3 SW, is based on the British made Rover Streetwise, which itself was based on the Rover 25, while the second generation, introduced in 2011 is marketed simply as the MG3.

The third-generation MG 3 was officially revealed on 26 February 2024 at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show. For the first time, it is available with a Hybrid+ hybrid electric powertrain.

In addition to Europe, it's available in Australia, Mexico, Middle East, Philippines, and Thailand.

2. Thanks for the info. We've come a long way from when British Leyland was producing the MGB slant back of similar size.

It's called MG Cyberster (terrible name). From wikipedia:

The Cyberster is based on the Modular Scalable Platform, with two powertrain options. The most powerful version adopts a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, producing 400 kW (536 hp; 544 PS). It is equipped with a 77 kWh battery with a CLTC-rated range of 580 km (360 mi).

MG claimed a 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) figure of 3.2 seconds.

A lighter rear-wheel drive version will be offered with a smaller 64 kWh battery and 231 kW (310 hp; 314 PS) power output.

SAIC Motor produced 3,664 in 2024.
