Star Trek: Lower Decks has won two Hugo Awards. The animated show was awarded Best Dramatic Presentation Short Form for the series finale, The New Next Generation. And the award for Best Graphic Story or Comic was awarded to the graphic novel Star Trek: Lower Decks: Warp Your Own Way.
For this weeks Trek Tuesday, were celebrating the beloved animated series and its associated stories. And be sure and write Paramount and tell them you want more Lower Decks!
Its been a long time since Star Trek has taken home a Hugo Award. The last time it happened was in 1995, when Star Trek: The Next Generations series finale, All Good Things
won the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation. That wasnt the first time Star Trek had won. In 1967, the Star Trek: The Original Series episode The Menagerie took home the award. And in 1968, the award went to The Original Series episode The City on the Edge of Forever.
But now the Franchise has won another Hugo, thanks to Lower Decks. Series creator Mike McMahan appeared at the ceremony via video to accept the award. On Bluesky, he shared his thoughts on winning. Winning a Hugo is my dream, McMahan wrote. He shared a story about how, in the wake of his fathers unexpected death, he found that only sci-fi stories were able to capture his attention.
