a man of memories

i am a man of memories though they are convoluted
churned up mixed and spread the corners of the soul
so as to be uncertain to show minds that are polluted
as those who followed or led abandoned in the cold
that before flickers and fades tossed in rubbish heaps
in the grave as it moulders to become yellow bones
adding up the prices paid await a dream that sleeps
as ice is growing colder and hearts are turned stones
true and false are inseparable each coloring the other
the lies told until believed their beginnings forgotten
delusion becoming inescapable though doubts hover
hearts taken or hearts received both fresh and rotten
time builds up against the dam unable to be released
as a flood of thoughts ram and pressure is increased
