BBC archival stories of World War II experiences - 47,000 narratives and 15k images

This was a project that was completed a few years ago with the British Broadcasting Corporation - they asked people to submit their memories of life during World War II. And while it is definitely British-oriented, there are many stories from other parts of the world as well. The network archived each of these written stories at the link provided below, and they provide a very detailed, personalized look at many aspects of life in the UK (and elsewhere) during the War years.

I often find myself getting lost for hours just browsing over some of the stories - they can involve some of the most mundane parts of life at that time, or venture into falling in love, dealing with rationing, coping with air raids, serving the country in many capacities, being a child during that time, or a multitude of different topics. It appears the network sorted the submissions into categories and provide recommended stories, but you can browse and browse and read anything you like - it is truly a living history of that time period. I'm pleased they've kept this online - this might be useful for those who enjoy personal narrative stories, and certainly useful for educators. . .
