(1,733 posts)It was pretty surreal being there for a year. I often thought about how years later, would troops go visit the places they were during the war, like after after WW II?
Nah, of course not. Too bad! I thought it was a real shame that the service and sacrifice of all the troops I was serving with was going to amount to... nothing, in a way. Nobody was going to take their family to Baghdad to see the sights, visit Iraqis they met, visit solumn graveyards where American troops would lie in honor.
Didn't work out that way, sadly
